C1 and C2 Anatomy The C1 and C2 vertebrae are part of the seven vertebrae that make up the cervical column that supports the neck and head. Although the cervical vertebrae are some of the smallest, they have to support the weight of the head and protect the spinal cord, the bundle of nerves that relays messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
Results: A superficial and deep cervical prevertebral plexus was identified terminating in the ventral joint capsule of the C1-C2 joint in all cadavers examined (21 sides). The location of the deep cervical prevertebral plexus was consistent within the C2 ventral gutter. Osmium staining confirmed the presence of myelin in plexus specimens.
The Atlanto-axial joint C1-C2 The axis (C2) is a completely different shape with a peg-like dens (odontoid process) which projects superiorly from the vertebral body. The dens is stabilised by a strong transverse ligament which extends between the tubercles on the medial aspects of the lateral masses of the C1 vertebrae and holds the dens agains the anterior arch of C1. Atlantoaxial Articulation (C1-C2) The articulation of the atlas with the axis is of a complicated nature and comprises three joints. There is a pivot-joint between the odontoid process (dens) of the axis and the ring formed by the anterior arch and the transverse ligament of the atlas (fig. 516), and a pair of plane joints between the articular facets of the two bones.
These communicating fibres are the contributions from the sympathetic trunk (sympathetic nervous system) to the cervical plexus. All of the fine-slice axial C1–2 CT scans and reconstructions performed on a spiral scanner over 2 years were reviewed.
C1 differs from the other cervical vertebra by being a ring shape and lacks a vertebral body and a spinous process. It has two thick lateral masses which are situated at the anterolateral part of the ring. C2 has many attributes of the more caudal cervical vertebrae, but its transitional nature dictates a complicated anatomy configuration.
O ccipital-C1-C2 Ligamentous Complex 2020-10-29 · Each of the cervical nerves forming the plexus communicates with one another in a superior-inferior fashion close to their origins, thus the C2 accepts communicating fibres from C1, C3 from C2, and so on. These communicating fibres are the contributions from the sympathetic trunk (sympathetic nervous system) to the cervical plexus. All of the fine-slice axial C1–2 CT scans and reconstructions performed on a spiral scanner over 2 years were reviewed. A novel screw trajectory reconstruction was designed to visualize the potential path of a transarticular screw in the plane of the reconstruction. Scans were reviewed for bone anatomy and the position of the transverse foramen. Aug 22, 2013 - Anabolic steroids store in USA where you can buy steroids by mail quickly and anonymously. C1 and c2 anatomy. In anatomy the atlas c1 is the most superior first cervical vertebra of the spine. The c1 vertebra is formed like a ring that sits on top of c2. The purpose of the cervical spine is to contain and protect the spinal cord support the skull and enable diverse head movement.
C1 and C2 vertebrae. The C1 vertebra, also called atlas, is shaped like a ring. The C2 vertebra has an upward-facing long bony process called the dens. The dens forms a joint with the C1 vertebra and facilitates its turning motions, thereby allowing the head to turn in different directions.See Cervical Vertebrae 2.
